What do we look for when we visit a different country? Maybe you love authentic and true experiences, away from the word “touristic”. Real history, gastronomy, wonderful landscapes are just waiting for you during your stay at La Pedra Remença.
We offer you that we can show you really special places for half day or full day trips. It is so easy: just tell us what your Spanish dream is and we will make it happen: countryside in Garrotxa county, Costa Brava, Pyrenees mountains, art, Spanish wines and gastronomy, nature… Tell us your ingredients for a perfect day and we will prepare it for you! Do not wait to watch it on a TV show or documentary, experience it yourself!
We live in this beautiful valley and know all its hidden treasures. We love good local food and fine Spanish wine. We enjoy walking, hiking up summits where you can see as far as the horizon. We combine our visits with art and history because they are everywhere around us: discovering charming Medieval villages, Roman stone paths, natural waterfalls and river gorges, monasteries on top of a mountain overlooking the sea, hermitages hidden in the forest… where time stopped.
We offer you the possibility to know our valley, the Garrotxa county, the Costa Brava area or the Pyrenees mountains, from a local perspective: everything that does not appear in travel guides, those special places that only locals know: its traditional restaurants with centuries old recipes, cooked at slow heat; half day or full day trips visiting churches built 1.000 years ago!, visits to wine cellars and olive oil producing in our area, the beauty of the Pyrenees mountains with villages and incredible rivers and wildlife, the blue Mediterranean Sea where Greek and Roman settlers disembarked thousands of years ago, hidden coves and coastal paths along the coast…. And all you can dream of.
You can also ask for a combined day: nature, art, local gastronomy and wine.
Spring & Summer season
Plan and book your special holiday where the Spanish Mediterranean sun is waiting for you ahead of time. A romantic getaway, anniversaries or a special celebration are perfect reasons to enjoy an excellent holiday rental cottage with private pool in Spain! We have prepared a vegetable garden so you can pick up your own fresh tomatoes and vegetables at La Pedra Remença all summer long!
The beautiful cycling "green way" is close to us, discover the medieval hermitages route, relax in the terrace bird watching and admiring the valley views while savouring some delightful meal.
Autumn & Winter season
The county where our cottage is located, La Garrotxa, is well known for wildmushrooms and restaurants organise gastronomic weeks around them.
Come in November through February, we will guide you mushroom hunting, explain our local mushrooms varieties and show you how we cook them. Chestnuts, walnuts are fun to collect as well.
Come and enjoy the beech forests at "Fageda d'en Jordà", in the Natural Park of the Volcanic Area in La Garrotxa, a place to walk slowly savouring silence and forest smells, wild birds singing.
The charming villages in our county organise local medieval markets, festivities, gastronomic wonders. It's all waiting just for you!
Girona city is just 25 minutes away. Walk the narrow streets of old jewish quarter in Girona, discover the baroque and rennaisance buildivivimosngs, the cathedral, art museums, its quaint stores, a true pleasure!
If you are interested in Spanish art, architecture, antiques, medieval villages and churches, we can organize the best visit and day trips according to your taste: Besalú, Sant Esteve d’en Bas, Sant Privat d’en Bas, Olot (Art Museums), Riudaura, to name a few.
If you enjoy the beach and the sea, we are just one hour drive to very scenic secluded beaches and seaside villages of the Costa Brava: Pals (impressive medieval village), Begur, Roses, Perelada, Figueres (painter Salvador Dali Museum), Cadaqués, Sant Feliu de Guixols, Empuries (museum and remnants of Greek and Roman city overlooking the sea!), the Wildlife Natural Park of Empordà, to name a few.
If you love hiking, walking, cycling, our area is very close to the amazing Park of the Volcanic Area and the mountains around us are full of great walks and bike rides. In autumn time, it is a great area for mushroom hunting and collecting chestnuts! The quiet roads in the valley are also a preferred destination for cyclists or leisurely bike ride. We are only 1h20' to the Pyrinees mountain range.
Bird Watching: our immediate surroundings offer excellent options to watch birds at the Natural Park of Aiguamolls de l'Empordà (Swamp & Wetlands of Empordà), the Natural Marine Reserve of Medes Islands, Banyoles lake, the Natural Park of the Volcanic Area.
River Kayak or canoe on the river Ter: magnificent river banks populated by wildlife and Mediterranean flora. Birdwatcher's paradise. Enjoy a pleasant and calm kayak descent while listening to bird song and river flow. All year round activity. Great in the winter season for birding.
There are many unique walks around La Pedra Remença to discover well preserved natural and surprising spots, natural ponds and waterfalls, birch forests, fountains, incredible geological formations. We can guide you to small local hermitages, pleasant half day or full day hikes with pic-nic lunch and treats.
